Toys on Paper: the 50s - Triang Pedal Cars

50s - Triang Pedal Cars

I figure the only kid who got this big feller for Christmas was Richie Rich... which helps explain why they are almost impossible to find today. This fantastic electric powered Mercedes racer, produced in the early 1950s, was the pinnacle of British powerhouse Triang's ingenuity of design. Thanks to Lines Bros Group's Triang Toys catalogue, 77th edition.

Mattel's 1969 International preview catalogue show off highlights of their 1970 range

Does anyone alive still remember when Hot Wheels were just a toy? These great snatches from Mattel's 1969 International preview catalogue show off highlights of their 1970 range... and some range it was! Today, the metallic pink Continental MK III alone has a MIB value well in excess of $300. If only I hadn't smashed mine with Dad's hammer.

1988 international retailer catalogue was brimming with Ponies

Hasbro's 1988 international retailer catalogue was brimming with Ponies... and why not? They were at their pseudo-equine peak with fans. The super-cutesy Summer Wing range shown here are a very hard find today, with current MIB resale prices soaring at $150 and up... if you can find them. Watercolour Baby Sea Ponies are equally sweet and financially neat, especially with the box.
